"Production tip: Reverb is really cool but a lot of people use it too much. It can sound great if used scarcely throughout a song, or if only a couple tracks in a song are being ran through verb it can create a very cool atmosphere in the tune. But when you use it on many different sounds all at once it can make your mixdown sound very muddy. A good way to apply reverb to a song is to put a completely wet reverb plugin on an auxiliary or send channel. Then you can send all of the different tracks in your song to one universal reverb setting, and you can choose how much reverb to send each track through individually. This will help a whole lot in the mixdown and can also be used when mixing down live recordings as well. This is called an FX loop."
