With no shortage of top-notch bass music talent to be enjoyed each and every week at Electronic Tuesdays, Sub.mission continues to showcase some of the sickest DJ’s from throughout the state of Colorado and far beyond. This past Tuesday night we gathered on the dance floor at Cervantes’ Other Side to welcome Grime sensation, ‘Preditah’ for his highly anticipated Denver debut hailing all the way from Birmingham, UK! As if Preditah’s Mile High appearance wasn’t already enough to get me excited, Crix Saiz & The Toddfatha would also be gracing the decks on this massive night. Not to mention there was some serious local talent performing in this week’s DJ battles to get the night started on a proper note and it was an evening that won’t soon be forgotten! Here’s the rewind!
The night began at 8:00pm sharp as local acts ‘Scout Dashveen’, ‘ Dream Snatcha’ , & ‘Wadada’ took the stage to throw down at this week’s DJ Battles. Each artist came equipped with their A-Game and set the tone early in the night. Making the most out of their 40 minute time slots, each DJ proved to be no easy competitor and showed the crowd and judges what they’re all about. Once again this week’s battles demonstrated just how talented the local scene from throughout Colorado really is. Comprised of styles and sounds ranging from Heavy Dubstep, Trap, and Minimal 140 beats, all 3 DJ’s played unique sets that had the early Electronic Tuesdays crowd moving their feet and nodding their heads. After a heated battle among the 3 selectors, DJ Wadada from Fort Collins was able to beat out the competition to be crowned this week’s winner! Wadada will advance to the next round of the competition taking place at Electronic Tuesdays on June 7 where he will battle it out against the fellow battle winners of the month of May! Don’t miss it!

Now that the crowd had been properly warmed up from the beginning segment of the night’s DJ battles, it was now time for the one like Crix Saiz to take the stage and amplify the energy in the room. Having seen Crix Saiz perform at a handful of Sub.mission events in the past, I knew to fasten my dancing shoes and get ready for a performance that was going to touch on a variety of styles and sounds. From the moment that he took the stage, he got straight down to business and properly set the tone for Preditah’s headlining set. Mr Saiz put on a set that displayed a good balance of dubstep and of course, some Grime! Among the vast selection of tunes that he played out, we were also fortunate enough to hear a good amount of some new, original tunes as well. Regardless of time slot or setting, whenever you see the name Crix Saiz on a lineup, buckle up tight because you’re in for a ride!

As the UK Grime movement continues to grow and expand in the United States, it was only right that Sub.mission brought out the one like Preditah to make his Denver debut in 1 of only a select amount of United States appearances. Gaining massive momentum on an international scale and being widely recognized for his contributions to the Grime scene, Preditah’s sound also displays influences stemming from Garage and on Tuesday night we got to experience a well-rounded set from the man himself. As remarkable as his bouncy, Grime style is, Tuesday night’s set from Preditah was not exclusive to a single genre or sound. His set was well-rounded and offered something for everyone in the crowd to get down to. A slew of his own original tunes combined with tracks from artists like Flava D, & Skream demonstrated Preditah’s ability to read the crowd and play out to his audience. From beginning to end, Preditah’s next level track selection and flawless mixing abilities combined to put on a performance that had everyone in attendance losing their mind! Big ups to Preditah for coming through and kicking a true lesson in the raw, uncut, UK Grime at Cervantes’ Other Side!

Closing out the night it was now time for long-time Sub.mission family ‘The Toddfatha’ to take the stage. No stranger to Electronic Tuesdays, The Toddfatha has been known to lay down some truly memorable sets over the years and every time you see him spin, he brings something new and refreshing to the table. Though he is primarily known for his Dubstep sets, The Toddfatha can also be credited as one of the first DJ’s to play Grime tunes in his performances and I couldn’t picture a better talent to close out this night and keep the energy in the room going strong ‘til the very end. Whenever you see The Toddfatha perform, his confident stage presence is a clear indicator of how knowledgeable and experienced he is as a DJ and his sound speaks for itself. The way he combines old school classics with modern day dance floor bangers is a pleasure to experience and is sure to get you moving.

Big ups to everyone that made it out to this week’s edition of Electronic Tuesdays. The vibe was thick, the bass was hitting hard, and I can’t wait to do it all again next week as we welcome underground dubstep heavy hitters LAS & Mikael along with Astra!
