Its officially summer time and things are seriously heating up here in the Mile High City. No doubt the last few months have had your head spinning and at the end of those nights you were left wondering what will come next and how can it possibly top what has already come through this year. With the recent announcement of two MASSIVE shows later this summer in the Cervantes Ballroom it’s easy to see why that question would come to mind. Those that know how Sub.mission likes to get down in the summer know that those two shows are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to summertime Sub.mission events. Coming off of a seriously stacked month that was May, we are moving forward into June with a fat line up of artists you’ve been patiently waiting to return to Denver as well as the debut of some seriously big heavy hitters in the dubstep scene. So whether you’re new or an OG, whether you don’t know or are in the know set back and get ready for this edition of This Month In Bass.
June Electronic Tuesday’s are seriously packed to the brim with talent. We start on June 7th with the long awaited return of the New World Audio generals Sukh Knight & Square Wave! Internationally known as one of true innovators of underground dubstep, Sukh Knight & Square Wave are about to bring the raw, uncut UK sound to Five Points for what is going to be an absolutely massive night! Both men are coming off of a MASSIVE performance at Infrasound Music Festival and they both have TONS of new music to drop on you. Starting the night off is the May Winners Round of the DJ Battles and we have DJ Davi-D, Ghost, Jang and Wadada going head to head for bragging rights and a paid slot on at a future Sub.mission show! These guys put their all into the battles last month so you know that this winners round is going to be a gloves off, no holds barred throw down! Definitely not a battle to be missed
On June 14th we have the return of the one like Yheti! Known for fusing multiple genres and sounds, Yheti has become one of the fastest rising names in the bass music scene over the last few years. Many try to classify his sound as trippy, obscure, abstract and psychedelic, among other things, but none of that matters because it all boils down to one thing, his music hits you hard and makes you dance! He’s been on a serious rampage tearing up the festival circuit and he's bringing his experimental sound with a force to be reckoned with come June 14th! Also on the line up is Sioux Falls duo Gloominoti, coming fresh from Infrasound as well, and Sub.mission resident Dillard!
June 21st is another long awaited return of an artist that absolutely smashed Five Points to pieces on her last visit. She is recognized as one of the core members of the Butterz crew and on June 21st Flava D is about to bring more UK bass flavor to Five Points! Drawing influences from various genre’s such as Grime, House, Bassline and Garage, she has a sound that is undeniably unique and is guaranteed to move any crowd she plays out to. The night is sure to be a banger as we have supporting sets from Sub.mission resident and trap/grime connoisseur Subliminal, as well as Co Springs homie GBP. You might need a fresh pair of dancing shoes for this one because last time we most definitely wore ours out!
Finishing off June Electronic Tuesdays we have a Denver debut of epic proportions. On June 28th we have the arrival of RDG & K Man!! RDG & K Man are a seriously deadly combination, to say the least. Both artists have made some dangerously massive contributions to the realm of underground dubstep and they both continue to push the limits of the sound to places and spaces beyond what any would consider the status quo. Aside from their individual releases on big name labels like Deep Medi, Mindstep, Dubliminal & New World Audio, some of their most recognized collaboration work can be traced back to the February 2016 release of Circle Vision Records’ 'Lost On Earth Vol. 1'. No doubt that you’ve heard it before and if you haven’t you most definitely will alongside the many, many other banging tunes both old and new that they’ll have ready to drop on the Other Side come June 28th. We know the “Denver Massive” have been patiently waiting for this seriously huge debut for some time now and we’re excited to finally bring them to you. If all that wasn’t enough we have none other than one of Colorado's most exciting rising talents on support. Dalek One will be on closing duties and judging by all the noise he’s been making lately with the Version Collective crew, he’s almost certainly going to leave everyone begging for the night not to end. We simply cannot wait for this one!
Make sure you get there early each and every Tuesday to support the local artists in the DJ battles. This month we have Kersey, Live Animals, Johny Trapo, Boss Mode, Bubblez, Rettchit, Counterfeit Rainbow, Mindphunkx, CoYoTa, Waylo, Whatley& Froztwreck going head to head for a slot in the June Winners Round next month. Also be sure to stop by the photo wall every Tuesday and talk to Carlos and Ray Jay to enter our ticket give away contest! Every week they are giving away tickets to upcoming Electronic Tueday’s so take the chance to save some money and get in on the action.
Also in the month of June Sub.mission heads back to Sonic Bloom! We have a collection of Sub.mission Residents and Agency artists that are going to smash the Sonic Bloom apart on Saturday June 28th! Sub.mission resident and ABM bad man Bean, Co Springs dubstep boss and fellow resident Ind33p, Sub.mission Agency rude boy NastyNasty and fellow Agency artists The Widdler and Cloud-D will take over the Hummingbird Stage for an afternoon proper bass music. I don’t think we need to reiterate how awesome that afternoon is going to be. We’ll see you at Bloom!
June is looking pretty good right? It makes you wonder what is on the horizon for the rest of the summer. Well we can’t tell you just yet but you can rest assured that whatever is coming is going to blow you away but lets not focus on what’s to come just yet. After all, June just started and we have a seriously stacked month of music to get through before we can even think about all that. So with that in mind make sure you check out this month’s “Monthly Mixtape” below and get to a preview of everything to come this month. We promise youll love it! See you in the dance ;)
